Dismantling the IRGC and the Moral Imperative
to Confront Islamist Totalitarianism
A Commentary by Gar
The World According To Gar • February 2026
I. Introduction
As I write this, the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group is positioned in the Arabian Sea, roughly 500 miles off Iran’s southern coast. An F-35C Lightning II just shot down a Shahed-139 drone that aggressively approached the carrier with “unclear intent.” [i] Hours later, IRGC gunboats harassed and threatened to board a U.S.-flagged tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. [ii] The USS McFaul escorted it to safety.
This is not a drill. This is not a diplomatic exercise. This is the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps — the single most dangerous state-sponsored terrorist organization on the planet — testing the resolve of the united States of America republic. And the answer they got was an F-35 turning their drone into confetti over the Arabian Sea.
Good.
President Trump has deployed what he rightly calls a “massive armada” to the region — the Lincoln Carrier Strike Group with its guided-missile destroyers, F/A-18E Super Hornets, F-35C Lightning IIs, EA-18G Growler electronic warfare jets, THAAD missile defense systems, Patriot batteries, and additional destroyer deployments. [iii] The USS Truxtun deployed from Norfolk just today. [iv]
This buildup is the second most significant military positioning in the Middle East in recent years, surpassed only by Operation Midnight Hammer in June 2025, when seven B-2 Spirit stealth bombers flew 37 hours from Missouri to drop ordnance on three Iranian nuclear facilities. [v]
The question now is not whether we confront the IRGC. The question is whether we have the moral clarity to see this through. And to understand why it matters for every non-Muslim on this earth.
II. Know Your Enemy: The IRGC Is Not a Military — It Is a Totalitarian Regime
Let me be precise about something, because precision matters. This is not about a religion. This is about Islam — a warped so-called religion whose fundamental teaching it the total usurping of planet earth justifing expansionist violence, theocratic governance, and the systematic elimination of anyone who does not submit. The IRGC is its most powerful instrument on earth.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is not merely a branch of the Iranian military. It is an oppressive regime occupying the once free nation of Iran. It controls its own army, navy, air force, intelligence apparatus, and — critically — its own economy. The IRGC controls every aspect of Iranian life including it’s currency which it has totally decimated. [vi]
But the IRGC’s most dangerous function is its role as the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism. Through its Quds Force, the IRGC funds, arms, trains, and directs:
- Hezbollah in Lebanon — responsible for the 1983 Beirut Marine barracks bombing that killed 241 American servicemen. [vii]
- Hamas in Gaza — the perpetrators of the October 7th massacre of over 1,200 Israelis. [viii]
- Houthi rebels in Yemen — who have attacked international shipping in the Red Sea with Iranian-supplied missiles and drones. [ix]
- Shia militia groups in Iraq and Syria — responsible for hundreds of attacks on American forces. [x]
- Terror cells across Africa, South America, and Europe — including planned attacks on American and Israeli targets worldwide. [xi]
The European Union has finally designated the IRGC as a terrorist organization. [xii] Iran’s response? Labeling European militaries as “terrorists.” [xiii] That’s the intellectual depth you’re working with here.
III. The Iranian People Are Not the Enemy — The Regime Is
Here is something the mainstream media will never tell you, because it doesn’t fit their narrative: The Iranian people are rising up against this very regime.
In late 2025, nationwide protests erupted across Iran. They started over the collapsing currency but rapidly it became demands for regime change. The UN Special Rapporteur reported that Iranian security forces massacred at least 5,000 protesters. [xiv] However, unofficial estimates are even 30,000 and higher.
Thousands more have been detained. The regime feared — and still fears — that a combination of American military pressure and public protests could topple the Islamic Republic. [xv]
President Trump told the Iranian protesters to “keep protesting” and that “help is on its way.” [xvi]
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz went even further, suggesting Iran’s leadership is in its “final days and weeks.” [xvii] The Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces estimated conflict could begin within 2 weeks to 2 months. [xviii]
Let that sink in. The people of Iran — a number of whom are non-practicing Muslims — are fighting and dying in their streets to free themselves from Islamist totalitarianism. This is their fight too. The IRGC follows the Quran literally and with great fervor. Islam and IRGC fully intends to take over the globe, enslaving and killing all ”non-believers.”
IV. The Ideology of Intifada: Why the Non-Muslim World Cannot Afford to Look Away
The word “intifada” means “uprising.” In practice, it has become a global rallying cry for violence against Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, atheists, and anyone who refuses to submit to Islamist supremacist ideology. You see it chanted on the streets of London, Paris, New York, Sydney, and Toronto.
And here is what nobody in polite society wants to say:
The doctrine of violent jihad — as promoted by the IRGC, Hamas, Hezbollah, ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, Al-Shabaab, and their ideological fellow travelers — is the single greatest threat to human liberty on the planet today.
Let me lay out the evidence, because I deal in facts, not feelings:
A. The Global Terror Footprint
• October 7, 2023: Hamas, funded and trained by Iran’s IRGC, slaughtered 1,200 Israelis and took 251 hostages. Women were raped. Children were burned alive. [xix]
• September 11, 2001: 2,977 Americans murdered by jihadists. The deadliest attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor. [xx]
• Bataclan Theatre, Paris (2015): 130 killed by ISIS gunmen at a concert and restaurants. [xxi]
• Manchester Arena (2017): 22 killed, including children, by a suicide bomber at an Ariana Grande concert. [xxii]
• Boko Haram (2014): 276 schoolgirls kidnapped in Chibok, Nigeria. Thousands killed across the Sahel in the name of jihad. [xxiii]
• Mumbai (2008): 166 killed by Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists over four days. [xxiv]
• Beslan School Massacre (2004): 334 killed, including 186 children, by Chechen jihadists in Russia. [xxv]
• Bali Bombings (2002): 202 killed, mostly Australian tourists, by Jemaah Islamiyah. [xxvi]
• USS Cole (2000): 17 American sailors killed by Al-Qaeda suicide bombers in Yemen. [xxvii]
• Pulse Nightclub, Orlando (2016): 49 killed by an ISIS-inspired jihadist targeting the LGBT community. [xxviii]
• Ongoing: Christians massacred across the Middle East, North Africa, and sub-Saharan Africa. Yazidis subjected to genocide. Ahmadiyya Muslims persecuted. Hindus attacked. Sikhs targeted. [xxix]
This is not a “tiny minority.” This is a well-funded, well-armed, state-sponsored global movement with the IRGC at its financial and ideological epicenter.
B. The Fear Factor
Non-Muslims around the world live in fear of a militant death cult that has turned airports into fortresses, concert halls into crime scenes, schools into targets, and ordinary city streets into potential kill zones. Every Western city has concrete bollards in front of public spaces now. That is not normal. That is submission. That is the world adjusting to a threat instead of eliminating it.
And here’s the kicker: Secular Muslims (non-practicing) and many tribes of muslims live in even greater fear. A great deal of jihadist violence is directed at other Muslims. When they have no non-believers handy to kill, they kill each other. The Sunni-Shia conflict, fueled by regimes like Iran’s, has killed hundreds of thousands across Iraq, Syria, and Yemen.
V. The Moral Case for Destroying the IRGC
I have written extensively about how disarmament leads to tyranny. I have documented how every major genocide in the 20th century was preceded by the disarming of the targeted population. Nazi Germany. Soviet Russia. Cambodia. Rwanda. Armenia.
The IRGC operates on the same playbook. It is currently massacring the Iranian people for demanding freedom. 5,000 (likely 30,000+) dead protesters. Thousands detained. And the regime has warned that if attacked, it will “wreak havoc” on every country in the region that supports the Americans. [xxx]
The moral case is clear and it is this:
An organization that slaughters its own citizens, funds global terror, threatens nuclear annihilation, and actively seeks the destruction of free nations has forfeited its right to exist.
This is not about “regime change for oil.” This is not the neoconservative nation-building fantasy of 2003. This is about neutralizing a clear and present danger to every free people on this planet.
The IRGC’s Maj. Gen. Mohammad Pakpour said the Corps has its “finger on the trigger” and warned the United States and Israel against “miscalculation.” [xxxi] Supreme Leader Khamenei warned that any confrontation would ignite a “wider regional conflict.” [xxxii]
Good. Let it.
Because the alternative — endless accommodation, endless appeasement, endless “negotiation” while they enrich uranium, fund Hamas, arm the Houthis, and massacre their own people — is not peace. It is a slow surrender. It is Chamberlain waving a piece of paper while the tanks roll.
VI. The Arsenal of Liberty: What We Have In Place
Let’s talk about what the united States of America republic has positioned to deal with this threat, because the scope of it should make every patriot’s chest swell and every mullah’s knees buckle:
• USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) — Nimitz-class nuclear-powered supercarrier with 5,700+ personnel
• Carrier Air Wing: F/A-18E Super Hornets, F-35C Lightning II stealth fighters, EA-18G Growler electronic warfare jets, E-2 Hawkeye early warning aircraft
• Guided-Missile Destroyers: USS Frank E. Petersen Jr., USS Michael Murphy, USS Spruance, USS McFaul, USS Delbert D. Black, USS Mitscher, and the freshly-deployed USS Truxtun
• Air Defense: THAAD systems and Patriot missile batteries deployed to Qatar and across the region
• Electronic Warfare: Six EA-18G Growlers (both legacy ALQ-99 and next-gen ALQ-249 jamming systems) deployed to Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan
• Littoral Combat Ships: USS Santa Barbara, USS Canberra, USS Tulsa — positioned for minesweeping operations in the Strait of Hormuz
• Constant surveillance flights and dozens of C-17 and C-5 cargo aircraft delivering materiel to bases across the region. [xxxiii]
• Basing across the theater: U.S. forces deployed in Syria, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, and Israel. [xxxiv]
And let us not forget: the U.S. Navy operates four Ohio-class guided-missile submarines, each capable of carrying 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles, and their locations are classified. [xxxv] If the IRGC thinks it knows where the threat is coming from, it doesn’t.
VII. The Path Forward: Strength, Not Boots on the Ground
Let me be clear about what I am not advocating. I am not calling for an Iraq-style invasion. I am not calling for 20 years of nation-building. I am not calling for American boots on Iranian soil.
I am calling for the systematic destruction of the IRGC’s ability to wage war, fund terror, and threaten free peoples. That means:
• Eliminating Iran’s air defense infrastructure — already damaged in the June 2025 strikes
• Destroying ballistic missile production and launch capabilities
• Neutralizing drone manufacturing sites — the same factories producing the Shahed drones Russia uses in Ukraine and the IRGC just flew at our carrier
• Targeting IRGC command and control infrastructure
• Ensuring the nuclear program never produces a weapon
The Iranian people can handle the rest. They’ve already shown they’re willing to die for it. What they need is for the boot on their neck to be removed. That’s what American firepower can do. Not occupy. Liberate.
VIII. Conclusion: Liberty Demands Courage
Forty years I have been watching the erosion of liberty and the rise of global threats. I have watched as every warning was dismissed as “conspiracy theory” until it played out exactly as predicted. I watched as we were told the IRGC could be “negotiated with.” I watched as Obama sent pallets of cash to Tehran. I watched as the JCPOA was sold as “peace in our time.”
And I watched as the IRGC used every dollar, every concession, and every dropped sanction to build more missiles, fund more terror, enrich more uranium, and massacre more of its own citizens.
Enough.
The armada is in position. The F-35s are fueled. The IRGC’s drone is at the bottom of the Arabian Sea. And the message is simple:
Liberty will not negotiate with its own destruction.
It is long past time that the united States of America republic stands as the shining beacon it was designed to be. Not as a world policeman. Not as an empire. But as a free nation that refuses — categorically, permanently refuses — to allow a totalitarian death cult to hold the world hostage.
The IRGC’s time is running out. And every free person on this earth — Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Hindu, atheist, or otherwise — should be cheering as the Lincoln’s jets circle over the Arabian Sea.
Help IS on the way.
